Frequently asked questions

Q1. Do I need to be an ALTA Member to self-nominate or accept a nomination? 

A1. No. Award nominations are open to companies, teams and individuals working in Australia.  

Q2. What do you mean by Australian LegalTech? 

A2. Australian LegalTech means that the company is majority Australian owned.

Q3. Is there any cost to nominate? 

A3. No. There is no cost to nominate or be nominated for an Award. The only cost to you as a nominee is the purchase of a ticket to attend the Awards event if you choose to do so. You can find out more about tickets and discounts available for the Awards Ceremony here. 

Q4. Can I nominate a project, company, team or individual for more than one category? 

A4. Yes as long as each nomination meets the relevant criteria for that category.  

Q5. Can I enter twice for the same award? 

A5. Yes as long as each entry is substantially different.   

Q6. Do I need to attend the Awards Ceremony in order to receive my Award? 

A6. No. Attendance at the Awards Ceremony is optional. We would however hope that all our nominees will attend and celebrate the success of legaltech innovation in Australia.  

Q7. Will I know in advance whether I have been shortlisted for an Award? 

A7. No. There is no shortlist of finalists and all award winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony on Monday 14 November.  

Q8. If I cannot attend in person can I send someone on my behalf to accept an Award? 

A8. Yes. Please contact our events coordinator if you wish to confirm a proxy for the Awards Ceremony at events@alta.law  

Q9. Do I need someone to nominate me? 

A9. No. You can self-nominate. Either means of nomination are equally acceptable and have no influence over the judges’ deliberations.

Due to many requests for extensions, nominations now close on at COB on Friday 31 October 2022. Finalists and winners will be announced at the ALTA Awards presentation ceremony and cocktail reception on Monday 14 November 2022.
