Fiona is an Australian of the Year 2005, and a 2022 Medallist recipient from the Australian Society for Medical Research (ASMR) she is a globally renowned Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon highly recognised for her notable achievements for her leadership and management when in October 2022 she led the team at Royal Perth Hospital who managed the largest proportion of survivors from the 2022 Bali bombings. She is the director of the Burns Service of WA, director of the Burn Injury Research Unit at UWA, co-founder of the company Clinical Cell Culture (now Avita Medical) and the McComb Research Foundation (along with Professor Marie Stoner) now the Fiona Wood Foundation.
From 2016-2021, Ed was Australia's Human Rights Commissioner, where he led the Commission's work on AI & new technology; refugees and migration; human rights issues affecting LGBTIQ+ people; national security; and implementing the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture.
Ed co-founded the Human Technology Institute, which he leads with Prof Nicholas Davis and Prof Sally Cripps. Ed is leading a number of major initiatives to promote human-centred artificial intelligence. Focus areas include digital government, the future of AI regulation, and facial recognition and digital identity.
Peter Baines OAM, spent 22 years with NSW Police as a Forensic Investigator. Due to his unique skills he spent many of his later years on international deployments to Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Japan. He would be seconded to Interpol in Lyon to lead an international counter terrorism project focusing on CBRN. He would also spend time with the UN Office of Drug and Crime in South East Asia before leaving that behind to focus on his humanitarian work with the charity Hands Across the Water that he formed in 2005. Since 2005 he has travelled the world speaking on building and leading teams and sharing the insights he has gained from a life of serving others.
Lisa Annese is the Chief Executive Officer of Diversity Council Australia (DCA) a role she has held since 2014. DCA is the leading voice on workplace diversity and inclusion in Australia.
DCA, with a membership of almost 1200 organisations employing 20 percent of the Australian workforce, supports Australian businesses and organisations to be effective in their diversity and inclusion strategies at work. DCA also advocates and provides leadership in the public sphere for a more inclusive Australia.
Lisa is passionate about DCA’s leadership on diversity and inclusion research as well as its capacity to deliver information and resources that are great for business, for workers and for the community and economy.
In 2022 Lisa was appointed to the Respect at Work Council, charged with supporting the work of the introduction of the Respect at Work Bill aiming to prevent sexual harassment in Australian workplaces.
Lisa is on the Boards of Amnesty International Australia and the non-partisan organisation, Women for Election. In 2018, Lisa was named one of the AFR’s 100 Women of Influence. Lisa is a member Chief Executive Women.
Dan Devine has been part of the Life Insurance industry for 20 years as both a Principal Underwriter as well as his recent role as an Educator/Presenter to financial advisors through the TAL Risk Academy.
Dan also has a keen interest in acting and improvisation, with a highlight he says being in a Chocolate commercial with his three little girls.
He takes this love and enthusiasm of all things communication, education & entertainment to channel it into his numerous Cooperate and Awards night MCing roles – including a long relationship with ALUCA and our events.
