Dr Steven Hodge, Griffith University
Steven Hodge is President of the Australasian Vocational Education and Training Association (AVETRA) and the Chair of the organising committee for AVETRA 21. He is a key contributor to debate in Australian post-compulsory education. His major analysis of policy in this space was recently published by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER). He is on the editorial team for the International Journal of Lifelong Education and International Journal of Training Research and member of the Australian Council of Deans of Education (ACDE) Vocational Education Group. Steven is a member of the Griffith Institute for Educational Research (GIER) and of the School of Education and Professional Studies at Griffith University, where he is Director of the Master of Education and Graduate Certificate in Professional Learning programs.
Claire Field, Claire Field and Associates
Claire is the Principal of Claire Field and Associates, a consultancy practice offering strategic advice on VET, international education and higher education to providers, investors and other tertiary education stakeholders.Claire served as the CEO of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training from 2010 – 2014 representing more than 1,100 private VET and higher education providers. Prior to ACPET, Claire worked in senior roles in a number of State and Australian government agencies, including establishing the Australian government’s first national VET regulator, the National Audit and Registration Agency. She has also held senior positions in both TAFE NSW and a national not-for-profit provider.
Kira Clarke, Brotherhood of St Laurence
Kira joined the Research and Policy Centre at the Brotherhood of St Laurence in February 2020 as a Senior Research Fellow. Kira has more than fifteen years of experience in academic research and teaching in the Australian university sector. Until December 2019, she was a Lecturer in Education Policy within the Melbourne Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne. As a university researcher (January 2004 – December 2019), she completed more than 35 grant-funded and commissioned research projects.
Karen is a International Specialised Skills Institute Department of Education and Training Fellow, Researcher, Course Co-ordinator and Lecturer in VET/VCAL at LaTrobe University and a trade qualified Metal fabricator/ pressure vessel welder.
Professor Llandis Barratt-Pugh is an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia. He mentors and examines PhDs, researches the management of learning within tourism, VET and industry, management learning, innovation, change entrepreneurship and research supervision. He utilises a mixed method approaches and the approaches of, Structuration, Learning Network, Activity and Actor Network theory. He is a Past President and current Executive member of AVETRA.
